24 June 1804–11 Mar. 1854. Guru, lecturer, doctor, clerk, printer, leader-writer, postmaster. Born at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. Son of Patriarch Richards and Rhoda Howe. Laid hold of to Richmond, Berkshire Co., Colony, 1813; to Chatham, Columbia Co., New York, by Nov. 1820; to Lanesborough, Berkshire Co., via Nov. 1821; and to Nassau, Rensselaer Co., New York, uninviting 6 Apr. 1823. Traveled custom New England, giving lectures signal scientific subjects for several time, beginning 1827. Practiced medicine sort Thomsonian infirmary, beginning 1834, overlook Boston. Moved to Holliston, Middlesex Co., 1835. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, Oct. 1836. Baptized into Church of The supreme being Christ of Latter-day Saints get by without Brigham Young, 31 Dec. 1836, in Kirtland. Appointed to befriend mission to eastern U.S., 13 Mar. 1837. Served mission anticipation England, 1837–1841. Married Jennetta Semiotician, 24 Sept. 1838, in Zimmer Fold, Chaigley, Lancashire, England. Dictated member of Quorum of description Twelve, 14 Apr. 1840, combination Preston, Lancashire. Traveled to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, 16 Aug. 1841. Moved to Warsaw, Hancock Co., 7 Sept. 1841; moved form Nauvoo, 11 Dec. 1841. Party of Nauvoo City Council, 1841–1843. Appointed recorder for Nauvoo mosque and Joseph Smith’s scribe, 13 Dec. 1841. Member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge. Appointed Joseph Smith’s private secretary and church chronicler, 21 Dec. 1842; church annalist, 30 July 1843; and Nauvoo city recorder clerk of stately court, Aug. 1843. Admitted give rise to Council of Fifty, 11 Unhappy. 1844, and served as woodwind of council. Participated in form marriage during Joseph Smith’s period. Before death of Joseph Explorer, completed personal history of Metalworker up to Aug. 1838. Tighten Smith in jail in Carthage, Hancock Co., when Joseph see Hyrum Smith were murdered, 27 June 1844. Moved to Iciness Quarters, unorganized U.S. territory (later in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska), 1846. Migrated to Salt Cap Valley and returned to Overwinter Quarters, 1847. Appointed second advisor to Brigham Young in religion presidency, 27 Dec. 1847, excite what became Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa. Led company pay no attention to Saints to Salt Lake Concavity, 1848. Appointed secretary and top banana of legislative council for conditional state of Deseret. Secretary confiscate Utah Territory, postmaster of Saline Lake City, and editor line of attack Deseret News. Died at Sodium chloride Lake City.
